About the Event

Our June event will includes an optional tech talk from one of our Dulles Code & Coffee members, Charles Shirer, who recently returned from presenting at Hack Space Con '24. Thank you for offering to share your talk, Charles!

## Tech Talk: Hacking APIs for Realz with Charles Shirer

Abusing API Security will discuss how to look at API security in a different way through multiple API attack techniques with a particular focus on Rest API and GraphQL

Charles has over 20 years of IT experience, with the last 10 years in Information Security. Charles has done systems administration, penetration testing, threat hunting, and security research. In his spare time, Charles plays retro video games, works on the SEC BSD Open Source project (a penetration testing distro based on the OpenBsd Operating System), runs the Labs by Bsdbandit Podcast, and is also on the BHIS Talkin Bout Infosec News Show.

## Event Format

  1. At 9:15 everyone introduces themselves and briefly describes what brought them out this morning (project, homework, networking, etc.).
  2. The tech talk will start after introductions, roughly around 9:45
  3. For the rest of the day folks work in the communal space, socializing and asking/giving help as desired.
